I am living in grayscale,
Cause you are not here.
Can't you come back baby?
Can't you come back
And add
A touch of color
To my Calcutta?
I see people move around me.
I can see myself,
Moving around them.
Where I build
Sidewalk castles,
For Kings with thrones.
I am too lonely,
And blues without you baby.
Can't you come back baby,
Can't you come back to me?
I want to share my
Calcutta with you, I
Want to share my
Monsoon rain,
Those sleepless nights,
And endless coffee stains
On those nameless tables.
Those glittering evenings,
Neons hiding the pain.
Your smile,
Blurring out everyone else.
Those cold drizzle, Walking
In the Calcutta sidewalks
Holding your hands
In mine.
And Phil Collins singing
Love songs for you and me.
Can't you come back baby,
And end this wait, for that
Kiss in the rain?
Can't you come back to me?
Can't you come back to where
I want to share
Me self with you,
And I don't want to share
You with anyone.

R . . . Your writings are amazing! ! !
I can feel the pain the writer mst b goin thru while writing these lines...!!
simply heart touching..!!
The poem sounds like a lover's attempt at a reunion.
I like the color imagery. do wonder why you say without her you are blue, when you said in the first line that you are gray scale. I would add in the end an image of how she fully could bring color back to an all gray world.
"I want to share my
Calcutta with you, I
Want to share my
Monsoon rain,
Those sleepless nights,
And endless coffee stains
On those nameless tables."
This part intrigues me, it stirs different feelings for me. Like sharing the the mudane, desperate, depressed would make you complete. Honestly, I think there is something seductive in that. But maybe I am strange.
A pre adolescent love poem ! Nothing special. By the way kolkata has no sidewalk, we have footpath.
The sound of footpath in several romantic poetry made a great impact. I love the coffee stain , the nameless tables ( I suppose coffeehouse in kolkata is the witness of many experiences like yours.)
You Say
"Can I Kiss your wings Ms J?"
Why would you kiss the wings and not lips . You look an angel in her. Is it?
Why Ms J, Why not just J
Why indeed ?
Buddy, If thats all true that you have written,
I wish your J to come back for you as soon as possible
Silly is it though if you noticed, if clubbed together
its RJ :-)
wow, amazing! it thouching my heart
@Anonymous : Love is strange, isn't it?
@Amiya Chatterjee : In case you have failed to notice, I was not talking about Kolkata in the first place. And love doesn't always have to be so special. There are myriad faces of love those that still remains undiscovered.
@Akshay Patil : Thank you for pointing out that "silly" little thing :)
Hey, thanks for contacting me.
I do appreciate any appreciation.
Thanks.
And beautiful, beautiful poem. And lovely pic to go along with it. Must be something close to your heart eh?
@Blue~Flame : On the contrary, she's not close to my heart. She is my heart :)
Hey!!
I'd rather be blogmate. More fun.
@Blue~Flame : Sounds good to me. Welcome to my abode. Take a look here and there, you might find something of interest. Take a sip out of that smoking cuppa coffee that's on the table, and enjoy!
Lovely photograph, it has a lot of sentiments in it, like positive and negative in the same time.
poor wretched babes...God save them 4m u..:)
Lovely poem.
Thanks for adding link on the pic but I would have really appreciated if you wud have given credit on the picture. :)
Thanks
Really wonderful poem....and that speaks of what the photographer has clicked....
If only the photographer was credited....who didn't belonged to Calcutta just he had stayed there only it would have been really awesome....
You are really rich in words !
@Photographer : With all due respect Kishore, I would have loved to give you all the credits that you truly deserve, but the person for whom I wrote this poem is so dear to me that I simply couldn't share this space with anyone else. This space belongs only to her. I apologize to you for this, but I hope you would understand my sentiments.
@Sweta : Thank you for the complements. And you would get an answer to why the credits didn't appear anywhere on this page in the reply above. Hope you would understand my sentiments.
Yeah, I got the answer....but respecting your love and the person whom you wrote for...all I want to say is the explanation is really not satisfying me....I really mean this...
@Sweta : Okay, it can be sorted out. How about I give him the credits on a separate post? Sounds good?
