Yes, Google has finally introduced Friend Connect on Blogger platform. This move was pretty much expected, especially when they officially merged FeedBurner into Google Feedburner and after Google officially stopped any further development of Google videos, the reason being they already had YouTube. Google does not want to keep unnecessary services. Which I think is the right thing to do.
On 27th of this month, John Pongsajapan from Google posted on the Blogger Buzz blog that they have finally merged the Follow feature of Blogger with Google Friend Connect. And although initially it was not functioning properly, now it seems to work fine. But there is a slight glitch, and that can become a real pain in the a**. That is, the blogs that you have already followed using the Follow feature would now show you as an anonymous follower. To change that you need to go to your Blogger dashboard, scroll down and click on Manage under Reading List. There you would find instructions on how to change Anonymous to your Blogger id and other settings for your Friend Connect account.
Overall, Friend Connect seems to be a nifty feature to me. And for site For sites whose follower counts have decreased, here is an explanation that goes into more detail about the decision to make certain followers private.
So start following my blog. You don't need to have a Blogger id anymore, you can follow my blog using the new Friend Connect feature even with a Yahoo!, AIM or even an OpenID account.

Thanks for the info. I had no clue about how it works but still installed it because I don't have the followers' widget.
@Julia Scissor : You're welcome.
