Transfer Your FeedBurner Accounts Now

Do you have an account with FeedBurner for your subscribers? Well, in that case it's time you log on to your FeedBurner account as you are required to transfer your FeedBurner account to Google.

When Google took over FeedBurner, Google wanted to bring the best of FeedBurner and Google in syndication publisher tools and solutions to the Adsense platform and vice versa. And now since FeedBurner is not managed as a separate company or subsidiary, and now that most of the FeedBurner engineering team has joined the Google engineering team, Google has decided to transfer all the FeedBurner accounts to Google accounts. Google is planning to move all it's FeedBurner accounts to Google accounts by February 28, 2009.

But there is good news. That is, you would not lose any subscribers in the transition process. All the feeds.feedburner.com URL would be redirected to your new Google hosted feeds. However, Google says that the analytics and reporting may take some time to adjust, so you might see a drop of subscriber for a week or so. But the number would be same before and after transfer.

You need to login to your Adsense account to configure your feed advertising. There are some new features available through the Google feed service. Adsense for Feeds, Email subscriptions would all be more reliable, robust and would be hosted on Google servers. So you can expect reliability, scalability and more fault tolerance. Although Google has decided to drop the Site Stats and FeedBurner Network features. There are a few changes in the FeedBurner APIs.

If you do not move your FeedBurner account to Google accounts by February 28, 2009 you would no longer be able to access your account at http://www.feedburner.com and your feeds would either begin returning a "404 Not Found" response or a "301 Moved" response back to your source feed. And if you have started to move your FeedBurner account to your Google account, then your new dashboard would be available at http://feedburner.google.com/.

I expected this move after Google decided to drop 10 products from their list. But I never really thought that this would happen so fast. Yesterday I went in to check my FeedBurner subscribers report and everything was the way it should be, but today when I logged in I got an announcement at the top asking me to transfer my accounts.
